Our Hospital
Bonita Pet Hospital was established in 1963 and moved to its present location on Bonita Road in 1968. When Bonita Pet Hospital was built on Bonita Road, it was only a two-lane road with trees all around, horseback riders and a small fruit stand on the corner. Veterinary medicine has come a long way since then. We have 24-HOUR CARE for your pet. We have two Doctor Directors that operate the hospital: Dr. Thomas Bernhard, a graduate of Washington State University, and Dr. Douglas Tomblin, a graduate of Colorado State University.
We provide 24-hour care for our pets seven days a week, including holidays. The hospital staff gives medical cases constant attention. Some may require intensive care along with around-the-clock monitoring and treatment. This may include the use of: oxygen therapy, heated cages for the treatment of debilitated animals, cardiac monitoring equipment, intravenous fluid therapy and blood transfusions. Our surgery facility offers a wide range of services, some of which include orthopedics (pinning and plating), cesarean sections, soft tissue surgery, cryosurgery, spays and castrations, ear crops, dewclaws, cosmetic surgery, dental prophylaxis and extractions.
Bonita Pet Hospital is now staffed with six veterinarians and five registered veterinary technicians. Our staff is kept current on modern medical and surgical techniques through regular attendance at continuing education seminars and constant reading. We train our support staff to assist you and to ensure that your pet receives the best possible care available 24-hours a day and on holidays. The doctors and staff have seen a multitude of pets making lifelong relationships with pet owners and our "furry little friends".
